This week, we're going to to start the next phase of the design process - research.
I want you to start by reading about the research phase again. Start at the bottom of page 24, ending before "Incubation" at the bottom of page 26. Using your work from last week, I want you to do background research on Time, Period, Place and Locale. Include images you find in your research. Each image should have a description of its relevance. For conceptional research - start with questions you have about your story. These moments are what I call the "how are we going to do that" moments. When I discovered we needed to fly Hart over a bed in 9 to 5 - I had to do conceptional research to come up with a plan. The answer came by using my knowledge of rigging, and going back into the script to decide how it needed to look to the audience. The method in which we flew Hart was devised from this information. For your conceptional research - find one tricky moment, and start to devise different ideas. most of them will not be used, but all ideas are on the table. include a sketch of some of those ideas. You can email me what you discover in Powerpoint. This will allow you to embed multimedia (video, pictures, etc.) to support your research. Due by Friday - 3:30pm I'll be on zoom the same time this week. check the tech calendar for those. (it's on the home page at the bottom!) Be well, -Parker
